I Love Santa

Nowadays, AJ is feeling so close with Santa especially during our weekend malling. Just last year, he's still scared to get near with Santa but now he's totally different. At least, he gets to enjoy the moment, and i hope he's still on that same attitude towards Santa until the Children's Christmas Party he's attending for an alive Big Santa will be there! :D

Coffee Break ver. 1.47

My best and happiest childhood memory of Christmas was when my father was still with us celebrating our yearly Noche Buena. We see to it that we hear mass at 10pm till midnight of December 24 and after which, we gather together for a simple feast and then the most awaiting portion of the night-- opening of gifts. Until now, we continue the family tradition though hardly complete anymore as my other siblings have their own family gatherings/activities.

Another one fondest memory I’ll never ever forget was when I was still in grade school up to my high school years, I remember my mother creating and decorating our own lantern out of the traditional materials—bamboo split, Japanese paper and cellophane. And most of the time, my mother made use of the old frame from previous year. It was a good feeling to reminisce the time that I was helping her specifically on the part of filling in of the paper curls to the round bamboo framing the star. I also remember that even my neighbors asked for help of my mother to cut the design for the tail part of their lantern.

But now, no one is doing that anymore ‘coz you can readily buy it from stores/markets/malls. ;-)

It was a nice coffee break. Thanks Jan!

Mica & Erik

We had our long weekend vacation at Lipa, Batangas. Again, my son was so thrilled to see his cousins as this would mean fun playtime for him. At my free time, I was able to do an AVP for my niece and nephew since they had just attended/participated in their school's 8th foundation day. Since its a mixture of photos and video of their dances--mica dancing novelty songs and erik in a modern dance, it was a large file. Just had the thought of including a digiscrap page in the AVP so i made one for the title page (see below) and another two pages as introductory for each dance video. Added some thoughtful message for their Daddy (who's working at Singapore) at the end in case they would want to send it to him. :D

A Gift: Baptismal Invite and Thank You Tag

A gift to a friend/kumare for her new baby's baptismal. Since there's no available picture of the baby at hand, i made use of the baby's name as main element of the invite. Gladly, my kumare was so grateful of my effort and happy from the result of the layout despite absence of photo of her precious 'Rheane Andrea'. Photo of invites was taken from my CP that's why it has poor resolution.

And lovely are the blossoms
That are tended with great care,
By those who work unselfishly
To make the place more fair.
And, like the garden blossoms,
Friendship's flower grows more sweet
When watched and tended carefully
By those we know and meet.
And, if the seed of friendshipIs planted deep and true
And watched with understanding,
Friendship's flower will bloom for you.

Laughter

Whew! I finished the 3 rounds for the NKOTB challenge! Though i felt that my layouts are not that good enough compared to other challengers, it was more than a good experience to have increased your knowledge in this craft by simply taking up the challenge itself. And i'm very thankful for DSP, for giving such a good venue to hone my digiscrapping skill.
Well, here's my third layout for the challenge--using other shapes for frames:

AJ's Post-Birthday Celebration

Last August 24, 2008, i really appreciated my maderacks (mudra) effort in preparing some food as gift for AJ's birthday. I thought AJ will just do the candle blowing for his cake since we had already our celebration at our home in Manila on its actual date. Well, hubby and i were so happy that it turned out to be a post bday celebration with complete attendance of his cousins, and titos/titas.

Propagating Friendship Award

Thanks Janis for this award!
I love the blogs of these people and I'm glad to pass this award onto them! All they need to do is to leave the following message on their post when they pass the award on to their chosen eight bloggers. They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut or that they propagate? Then let's try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this

Now, I am passing this award to...Tracy, LorieM, Gwacie, Seraphim, Slickchick, Jen, Thea and EJ.

Have fun scrapping my dear friends!

Batman Fever

Here’s to show how much my son adores Batman. Photos were taken at Glorietta mall and Mall of Asia. We have so much fun just watching him play. I remember, as soon as he got to wear the batman mask, he started approaching people and saying "batman" with a growl sound. Funny little thing. And when he got the cape, he run around happily and again making sure everyone notices him fly. Not shy, huh!
Lately, he always play with his toys-batman and joker (freebies of cococrunch cereal), banging them together as if fighting. Growling becomes his habit.
Just last night, i was so delighted to saw AJ describing the spiderman stickers in his clothes drawers as if reading..saying Black spiderman (sounds like bulack spyman) then Red spiderman (sounds like red spyman)..over and over while pointing at each sticker. When my hubby heard him, we just kept silent momentarily and simply watched AJ repeatedly doing his recital. Funny, really!! What a good night for us!

Spreading Creativity

Thanks to SisTracy for this tag!

{start copying here}

Here's my story:

It was just last year (2007) right after my son's first birthday when i started to do digital scrapbooking. Due to enormous file of digital photos at hand, i really wanted to organize not only my son's photos but all the family pictures, as well. Back then, i used ready layouts and free software and elements from scrapbookflair and shabbyprincess. Now, I'm using PhotoShop Elements 6 and doing my own layouts already. It was because of my fellow digiscrappers from Girltalk that i have found the courage to start my own LO through their shared tips and techniques.

{ created by Cathy, please don’t delete the graphics or alter it }

1. Copy the graphics designed by Cathy and then tell us your story about how you came to start designing. It doesn’t matter if it’s “for your eyes only” or you are designing for somebody.
2. Come back here and leave your link where you posted the story. I will add your blogs to the master list. If you have more than 1 blog you need to post the tag to your other blogs as well.
3. Passed it to people you know who makes beautiful crafts.
4. Make sure that you come back here to get the updated list of bloggers who joined the tag. This is a good way to increase our rankings on Technorati at the same time we get to read great stories.

So let’s start spreading those creativity.

Best Buddy

Lucky me to have participated the Wacom Digital Scrapbooking Contest! Just a little sad i wasn't that prepared to do a nicer LO as entry. But anyway, it was fun doing the "Best Buddy" LO as i never had much time to play with PSE tools and i realized that i really have to practice more to achieve a more presentable and proudly-looking LO ;o) Still, i'm happy i'm done with it.

Just to share, the 'Little Wonder' LO was not accepted as entry due to lack (ignorance, ngek!) on my part, considering that the Superman Image is legally owned by a comic book company and therefore, according to the Wacom Officer if they will post my entry to their website, it would result to a copyright infringement. Good thing i was able to learn that and would certainly stick to my mind in joining future contests/challenge. Also, I would like to thank the Wacom (esp. Mr. Ian Chun) because i thought i won't be able to submit today (deadline) due to system error and they have acted immediately on it when they learned that i'm having trouble submitting my new entry.

Hey, glad to see some GT friends at the entry list, and they really have great LOs! I know one of them are sure winner! Best luck to all of us!

Little Wonder

AJ believes he can fly. He actually is. But then, he always knocks his head or some of his body parts when he’s doing his own kind of flying. For months now, he is so fond of action figures and superheroes thing. He’s acting it out very well and as it happens, he finds us (hubby and me) a good target as villain and we can’t help but be in character when he whooshes in to us. And it’s hard to stay that way, as receiver of his quick punches and kicks and at the same time keeping up with your acting..sometimes, I feel like I’m wonder woman myself…hehehe, naks.. carried away! All for the sake of fun and we always took advantage of the time whenever AJ do his antics and we never get tired of doing it again and again and again.

Before I forgot, I came across with a call to join for a digiscrapping contest sponsored by Wacom Asia. And before I change my mind, I think I want to participate with this contest with this scrap page as entry. Win or Lose, I’m more than happy just for the thought that I’ve joined such a contest. And it's a first time.

Calling all my dear digiscrapping friends, do visit the site and join in.

Happiness

Finally, I’ve got the chance to use the wonderful Kit created by Sis Lorie M.

The photos in here were taken during AJ’s first admission to a hospital due to some viral infection. Anyway, he was in high spirits and too comfy despite feeling sick. Happiness was all over his face especially that we’re always at his side during those times. AJ was so animated at that time and no wonder, he is our own source of happiness up to this moment.

A digiscrap page for my sister Migs. Just finished our phone conversation, and as usual “ang gulo naming magusap”, but the reason is the line is choppy and not the usual na hindi kami magkaintindihan, hehe. Sis, this is for you.

Guess, I’m missing more my family back in the province. Hope to see them soon and to do some digiscraps for them too..Meanwhile, happy viewing!

Jollibee Time

We attended Jigs' 1st birthday party at Jollibee Ortigas Roosevelt last 12 July 2008 and AJ has fully enjoyed the dance number of Jollibee mascot. Here's the video:

My Hubby's New Girl

Yeah, you read it right! My hubby’s got his new girl by the name of CHERY, the girl from China. She is so cute, looks comfy, good looking, so cheery with a ready smiling face and quite striking as she really attracts other men when she’s out on the runway.

Hey, it’s the smiling car--QQ3 1.1 Sedan, Nasdaq Silver from Chery Iseway Motors. ;o) LOL! Hubby just got the Cheery Chery last Friday, 11 July 2008.

Though nearly everyone have so much angst among Chinese cars due to its reliability and resilience, for us we find it practical to have this car for several simple reasons. One, we will no longer endure the long queue for cabs whenever we go out/short travel or we shop for our weekly food stuffs/personal effects/grocery, plus we have our super playful toddler; second, its brand new (with 5-years warranty) and cheap (compared to other sub-/compact cars) and our budget can afford ONLY this kind of car; third, fuel efficient especially for city driving; and fourth, his X (short for his Honda XRM motorcycle) could only ferry me and hubby minus AJ to-and-fro our destinations. Well, we’re just happy to finally have her than none at all, and it’s our first!

Hard to skip these photos of Hubby, Son and Chery to scrap!

Our Little Miracle

Just want to share with everyone the AVP i've made--AJ's arrival day. Now that he's turning two this August, i want to cherish every moment of that day--the memories of him being little, soft and cuddly and the wonder of it all.

Cartoon Art

I’ve been meaning to take on some readings on how to create a cartoon art in Photoshop ‘cause I find it cute to see hubby, son and me in a cartoon-like picture just like in a newspaper comic strip. It was fortunate for me to bump into a tutorial from the net on how to do it. However, while I’m on it already, the finished artwork did not match the final output in the tutorial. Hmmm, with so much thoughts and analyzing, I still can’t figure it out how and why? Still, here’s the piece of artwork I’ve made.

Picture was taken during the summer vacation at White Capes Beach Resort in Nasugbu, Batangas last 19 April 2008.

Software Used: Photoshop Elements 6

Mica Girl

I've downloaded a wonderful kit: "Peachy Keen" from Mandy Mystiques. I am so glad she's giving it for free and according to her, it will only be temporary...so grab it now while it's still free. You can download it from her website, just click the image.
and upon seeing the "Peachy Keen" Kit, I was inspired to do this scrap page for my niece--Mica. I gave her a gift of two dolls for her birthday as these are her birthday wish for her doll collections. Can't forget the BIG smile when i handed it to her.
